Ancillary Marijuana Industry Flourishing in Uruguay

Even though pharmacies in Uruguay have yet to begin selling state-sanctioned marijuana, ancillary businesses have begun cropping up, and more are being founded on an ongoing basis.

Congressman Predicts Feds Will Allow States to Set Cannabis Laws

U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, one of the marijuana industry’s biggest allies in Congress, predicted on Thursday that the federal government will adopt a formal policy within five years allowing states to set their own laws on cannabis.

“It will be game over,” Blumenauer said, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Blumenauer, an Oregon Democrat, made the prediction during a trip to Maine, where at least one initiative to legalize recreational marijuana is expected to make the ballot next year. The prediction is an interesting one, given that cannabis has evolved into a fairly nonpartisan issue, with both major

Unhappy with how Ohio officials decided to word its initiative on the November ballot, the group pushing to legalize both medical and recreational cannabis there says it’ll take its fight to the state Supreme Court.

And it has hired a big gun to make its case: Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Andy Douglas.

Douglas, now legal counsel for the cannabis campaign ResponsibleOhio, blasted the Ohio Ballot Board’s wording of the campaign’s amendment as “clearly biased,” saying that it “gives preference to the arguments of marijuana reform opponents.”

Douglas added that he’ll be filing appealing to the state
