First NH Dispensary May Open as Soon as January

The first of up to four medical cannabis dispensaries in New Hampshire could open as soon as January now that a company has finally obtained local approval.

Temescal Wellness received the final green light – in the form of a conditional use permit – this week from the planning board in the town of Dover. It hopes to open a 2,500-square-foot dispensary there early next year, according to the Union Leader.

Temescal has also obtained state permission to start up a dispensary near the town of Lebanon but is still seeking local approval, and it has a grow operation in Manchester.

Canadian Mayors Seek Federal Help With Illegal Dispensaries

In Canada, the mayors of two of Vancouver Island’s biggest cities are seeking guidance from the federal government on how to deal with illegal medical cannabis dispensaries and how to prepare for recreational marijuana legalization.

Until now, most of Canada’s illegal dispensaries have been in Vancouver, where police have focused on heavier drugs and local politicians have by-laws that regulate the city’s cannabis trade.

But dispensaries have started to pop up in nearby Victoria and Nanaimo, and observers expect more illegal dispensaries to open across Canada, according to the Globe and Mail.

On Thursday, the Victoria City

Company Seeking MMJ License Wins Over Town by Offering Equity Stake in Cultivation Site

By Omar Sacirbey

When Harvest Inc. announced that it offered the tiny town of Hancock, Maryland, a 5% stake in a cultivation facility it hopes to open there, a few eyebrows went up.

Some observers called it innovative, saying the move could serve as a blueprint for companies trying to win medical cannabis licenses. Others equated it to a bribe, saying the company is looking to gain an unfair advantage in the licensing process.

In any event, town officials accepted the deal in early October after having lawyers sign off on the legality of the offer.

As a result, Harvest – a cannabis dispensary and cultivation company based in

Pesticides Lead to Sixth Marijuana Product Recall in CO

And then there were six – marijuana product recalls in Colorado tied to pesticide use, that is.

The recall number hit the half-dozen mark on Tuesday, when the Denver Department of Environmental Health announced in a press release that Lab710 Concentrates is voluntarily recalling more than 2,300 units of 23 different products.

The recall, parallel to a much larger one earlier this month in Denver, is tied to marijuana grown and sold by the chain TruCannabis, which acts as both a wholesaler and retailer in Colorado. Inventory from TruCannabis was bought by Lab710 earlier this year and used to

New Canadian Leadership Begins Marijuana Legalization Process

It looks like Canada’s newly elected prime minster is going to make good on his promise to fully legalize marijuana.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently released a letter he sent to his minister of justice and attorney general – Jody Wilson-Raybould – in which he outlined a series of priorities for her. Sixth on the list of 15 entries is to “create a federal-provincial-territorial process that will lead to the legalization and regulation of marijuana.”

Trudeau directed Wilson-Raybould to work with the ministers of Public Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Health in her efforts to set up the

Oregon to Publish List of Permitted Pesticides

The Oregon Department of Agriculture has identified 250 pesticides that marijuana producers are permitted to use on their crops, according to The Oregonian.

The list of permitted pesticides will be posted on the state’s Department of Agriculture website in January, but includes pesticides considered to pose “minimal risk to human health” per standards set by the federal government, which sets national pesticide policy.

Most pesticides approved for use in organic agriculture would also be allowed on cannabis, the Oregonian reported.

Pesticide use has been a major obstacle for commercial growers, whose crops can be ruined by

Florida Legislature Tackles MMJ Legalization, Again

For the third time in two years, the Florida Legislature will take up the hotly contested issue of medical marijuana, in an attempt to broaden its current system.

On Monday, state Sen. Jeff Brandes filed a new medical marijuana bill that would license cultivation, processing, and retail facilities, and expand the conditions that qualify patients for MMJ.

Today, Florida’s Senate Health Policy Committee will consider a proposal to add medical marijuana to an existing state law, “Right to Try,” that allows terminally ill patients to try experimental drugs not yet approved by the U.S. Food and Drug
