MA Poll: Opponents, Proponents of Legalization in Virtual Tie

Massachusetts voters are split down the center over whether to legalize marijuana, although the anti-legalization campaign appears to have gained ground, a new poll shows.

The Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll of 500 Bay State voters found that 45.8% opposed legalizing recreational marijuana, 43% supported it, and 11% were undecided.

The difference was within the poll’s 4.4% margin of error, indicating that supporters and opponents of a possible marijuana ballot measure in November are in a virtual tie.

The main advocates of legalization in Massachusetts – the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol – must gather 10,792 valid signatures by early

The raid occurred days before Lansing lawmakers consider a moratorium on medical marijuana shops in the city.

Colorado Rejects Organic Labeling for Marijuana

Colorado state lawmakers have rejected legislation to certify organic marijuana, because of worries the label would imply MJ is healthy.

A senate panel this week killed the bill 4-3. It would have made Colorado the first state in the nation to offer organic certification for cannabis grown without pesticides, the Associated Press reported.

Some lawmakers worried the label would suggest marijuana is a health product without adverse effects.

Others voiced concerns the U.S. Department of Agriculture would penalize Colorado agriculture regulators for labeling a federally illegal substance as organic. The federal government regulates organic standards.

The Sanctuary Alternative Treatment Center opened April 30 in Plymouth, in the north-central part of the state, after receiving its final registration certificate from the state.

Sanctuary served more than 40 patients on its first day, according to the Manchester Union Leader. For now, the
