New York poised to add PTSD to MMJ qualifying conditions

New York’s five medical cannabis licensees are a signature away from being able to serve patients that suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The state legislature on Tuesday gave final approval to a bill that would add PTSD to the qualifying conditions list for medical marijuana in the state. The bill heads now to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, “where its fate is uncertain,” the New York Daily News reported.

Marijuana Policy Project lauded the move, saying that “state lawmakers are standing up for thousands of New Yorkers” that have been diagnosed with the ailment.

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture is drafting the application and regulations governing farmers who want to grow and sell hemp under a pilot program aimed at developing new markets for the plant. The program stems from a bill signed into law in May, with the new rules set to take effect

Despite strict efforts by Oregon regulators to keep pesticide-tainted marijuana from reaching store shelves, some contaminated cannabis is still slipping past the state’s testing labs.

The Oregonian, the state’s largest newspaper, recently conducted a study to determine the success of Oregon’s testing program in halting the sale of tainted marijuana.

The newspaper purchased a small sample of cannabis extracts from Portland marijuana stores and took the samples to two labs for two rounds of testing. In the first round, three of the 10 products contained higher levels of pesticide than the state allows. But when the samples
