The CEO of one of Canada’s fast-growing marijuana companies has a piece of advice for the federal government: Permit a wider variety of products beyond buds and oils when the recreational market launches next year.

Brendan Kennedy, CEO of British Columbia-based Tilray, said Canadian regulators need to recognize the popularity of edibles and other products in places such as the United States while preparing for next summer’s planned rollout of recreational marijuana.

The owner of a recently licensed medical marijuana dispensary in Maryland is under federal investigation for workplace discrimination stemming from a previous business, a situation the state’s embattled medical marijuana commission had no knowledge of.

Cannabis content site raises $4.1 million with NFL legend’s help

Marijuana content website Herb has raised $4.1 million in seed funding from a group of investors that includes Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana.

Herb – which focuses on how-to video content along with news articles and other information – has roughly 5.3 million unique viewers monthly and gets about 200 million video views per month, Tech Crunch reported.

Canada has a new health minister, but the marijuana industry doesn’t expect to see a significant shift in the federal government’s cannabis policy ahead of next year’s launch of recreational MJ.

Nevada again expands field for recreational marijuana distribution

Nevada regulators plan to reopen the state’s recreational marijuana distribution system to businesses other than alcohol wholesalers after rejecting an appeal by a liquor group that claims it has exclusive rights to transport marijuana from cultivators to retail stores.

The state Tax Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to uphold a previous decision by the Tax Department to expand the licensing beyond alcohol distributors because they’ve been unable to keep up with overwhelming demand.

The distribution turf battle has been tied up in district court and administrative appeals since before legal recreational sales began July 1.
