Weedmaps, a marijuana-focused tech company, has joined the Boston Chamber of Commerce and is finalizing a lease for an office that will house its sales and marketing team in the city’s pricey downtown.

The move suggests California-based Weedmaps is confident the Massachusetts market will be lucrative and gives the company an anchor in an increasingly active Northeastern market.

Massachusetts and Maine will launch their recreational programs next year, while New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont are also serious contenders to pass recreational laws in the next year or two.

Delaware eases PTSD patient access to medical marijuana

Delaware’s four medical marijuana dispensaries could see an uptick in business thanks to a change in state law that makes it easier for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder to obtain medical marijuana.

Under the new law, PTSD patients can get a recommendation for MMJ from any licensed physician. Previously, PTSD patients had to receive a recommendation from a licensed psychiatrist in the state to get a medical cannabis card.

Nevada Supreme Court halts cannabis distribution licensing

Nevada’s marijuana distribution court fight will last at least another few weeks.

On Friday, the Nevada state Supreme Court issued a temporary injunction prohibiting the Department of Taxation from issuing any more marijuana distribution license, in a move that could extend supply chain problems for cannabis retailers in the short term. Oral arguments in the case are scheduled for Oct. 3.

DOJ official: Administration still unsure on marijuana stance

The Trump administration hasn’t yet decided what to do about marijuana enforcement in states that have legal cannabis programs, according to a top Department of Justice official who was asked about marijuana policy.

“We’re looking at it,” Rod Rosenstein, the No. 2 enforcement official at the Department of Justice, said of the Obama-era Cole Memo meant to safeguard the legal cannabis industry.

Rosenstein – speaking Thursday to the conservative Heritage Foundation – did not say when the administration’s review of the Cole memo would conclude.

L.A. planners approve marijuana business zoning regulations

The Los Angeles City Council Planning Commission approved an ordinance on Thursday that sets zoning regulations and land use guidelines for marijuana growers and retailers in the city.

The ordinance mandates that retail marijuana stores be located at least 800 feet from schools, parks, libraries, drug treatment facilities or other marijuana shops, according to the City News Service. California’s recreational marijuana law, which goes into effect in January, requires retailers to be just 600 feet from these types of locations.
